Quarterflash
Quarterflash – amerykański zespół grający muzykę pop i rock, istniejący w pierwszej połowie lat 80.
Grupa została założona w 1980 w Portland z połączenia dwóch grających w Oregonie formacji Seafood Mama i Pilot (lub Union)[1]. Pierwotny skład zespołu tworzyli:
- Rindy Ross – wokal, saksofon,
- Marvin (lub Marv) Ross (mąż Rindy Ross) – gitara,
- Jack Charles – gitara,
- Rick DiGiallonardo – klawisze,
- Rich Gooch – gitara basowa,
- Brian David Willis – bębny.
Największym sukcesem Quarterflash okazał się ich debiutancki singel „Harden My Heart”, który zajął 3. miejsce na liście przebojów Billboard Hot 100. Inne wysoko notowane przeboje zespołu to Find Another Fool i Take Me to Heart. Grupa została rozwiązana w 1985 w związku z utratą kontraktu z dotychczasową wytwórnią płytową. W 1990 nastąpiła krótkotrwała reaktywacja formacji z udziałem nowych muzyków, która zaowocowała wydaniem przez Epic Records płyty Girl in the Wind. Rindy i Marv Ross dołączyli później do regionalnego zespołu The Oregon Trail Band.

American rock band
This article is about the American rock band. For the band's first album, see Quarterflash (album).
Quarterflash (previously stylized as QuarterFlash) was an American rock group formed in 1980 in Portland, Oregon. The band was originally made up of lead vocalist and saxophonist Orinda Sue "Rindy" Ross (born June 26, 1951) and her husband, guitarist Marvin "Marv" Ross (born January 30, 1951), along with Jack Charles (guitars), Rick DiGiallonardo (keyboards/synthesizers), Rich Gooch (electric bass), and Brian David Willis (drums and percussion).[2] In a 1982 interview, Rindy Ross said that she viewed the saxophone as an extension of her voice, enabling her to express things she could not express with her voice alone.[3]
Recording history
[edit]The group was formed by merging two popular Oregon bands, Seafood Mama (formerly Beggars Opera) and Pilot (not to be confused with the Scottish band of "Magic" fame).[4][5][6] Continuing under the name Seafood Mama, the band originally released the picture-sleeved single "Harden My Heart" on a local private label, Whitefire Records, in the spring of 1980 (with the B-side track being "City of Roses"). "Harden My Heart" was a big hit on Portlan
