    Georges and Marguerite Charpentier: When Gervais Charpentier died on July 14, 1871, his only son Georges-Auguste (1846–1905), who had been working as a journalist, inherited Bibliothèque Charpentier, the successful Paris publishing house his father had established thirty years previously.
