FIL-Canadian rookie prospect James Forrester has high respect for Rookie of the Year Calvin Abueva and would love to play alongside the undersized forward with the Alaska Aces.
Forrester had a chance to work out with the Aces last week and was able to see up close what the tireless Abueva is capable of doing inside the court.
“I’ve never seen a player with that kind of motor and that kind of energy that Calvin Abueva brings,” Forrester told Spin.ph on Tuesday during the PBA biometrics for rookie hopefuls ahead of the November 3 draft.
Officially listed at 6-foot-1 and ¾, Forrester starred for Arellano Chiefs in the NCAA this past two seasons.
The athletic forward said he wouldn’t mind being picked by any PBA team, though he said, it would be a different experience playing alongside the player they call 'The Beast.'
“The main thing I’ve learned from Calvin is he doesn’t give up. Whatever happens in the play, he doesn’t give up, and that’s what’s admirable, especially for a basketball player because hard work translates to defense and defense translates to championships,” he stressed.

James Patrick Forrester (born September 3, 1989) is a Filipino-Canadian professional basketball player who last played for the Davao Occidental Tigers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was selected 4th overall in the 2013 PBA draft by Barako Bull.[1]
Amateur career
[edit]Before beginning his college career at Arellano University, Forrester trained at IMG Academy Prep for one year in the United States.[2] During his one-year stay at IMG Academy Prep, Forrester averaged 15.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Despite being offered a full scholarship to attend and play basketball at the Ateneo De Manila University, Forrester opted to play for the Arellano Chiefs instead.
College career
[edit]Forrester had a brief tenure at Arellano University that lasted only 2 seasons due to his maximum eligibility of 2 years. Unfortunately, his whole college career was filled with inconsistent play and a struggle throughout his whole second season after suffering an injury in preseason play and still continuing to play despite the severity of the injury.[3]
